Additional skills

We are specialists in the charity and social economy sectors. We have extensive experience of all forms of community-led projects, from housing to sports, and from pubs to railways. Most of the lawyers at Wrigleys are themselves trustees, directors and/or volunteers in community projects, giving them first hand practical experience of many issues that they may be advising on. We have advised community groups on legal structures, community share issues, contracts, property, governance and the legal aspects of commercial and finance issues. We are innovative thinkers with a track record of development in the community-led enterprise sector. For example, we established the first model community land trust rules, initiated the first community energy share issue and have pioneered social investment for a diverse range of organisations.

The firm has significant experience of advising on the property, legal structure, governance and finance aspects of many community-led housing projects. We have a long history of working with community-led housing groups and understand their wish to build sustainable communities. We regularly organise peer-to-peer learning events for community-led housing groups, and have delivered training at national community-led housing conferences. Our lawyers have also been involved in hundreds of community asset transfers and we regularly advise on other community rights such as the registration of property as an asset of community value.
